Me and my girl

That's us, complete with AJ's Santa in the background, I'm the one in the back.

Dr. today

We made it through this afternoon, it appears that the ER Dr who told us about the cyst was off a bit, instead of a 10 centimeter cyst she has a 10 milimeter cyst, slight difference there. But the GYN thinks the cyst is being caused by her endomitriosis, so we were faced with lots of options, do nothing and see if it goes away (as most ovarian cysts do), try birth control pills to control the symptoms and see if it goes away (there is a chance that would work, but no guarantee), try this new medication that will basically shut down her estrogen production and throw her into menopause, or surgery. We chose to go the forced menopause route because the Dr flat out said it was the option her would chose for his own wife, which was my first question about the choices. I'm not sure how I really feel about this, but I am hopeful that it is going to work as well as he says it will.

I still haven't done any knitting, I've spent most of the day trying not to cry, I'm happy that Dyan is going to be OK, that there isn't some massive thing growing inside her like we thought, but I am still just to depressed to move. I want to knit, I just don't have the energy, how sad is that.

On an up note, our littlest one, Sean had his name on TV this week for being a "Positive Person" at school, that means one of the staff "caught" him doing something nice for someone else. That was cool, we had fun playing with the camera trying to take a picture of his name on TV, we finally got it after 4 tries. ;o)

And my grandpa came to visit, and he was playing with the camera, and he took a picture of D and I standing by the tree, which finally has more decorations that just the garland, but still everything on it one of us made.

This week

Wow, that's all that can be said. I got some knitting done, sitting in the hospital gives you time for things like that. My other half, D, has been VERY sick, it turned out to be a bad case of the flu on top of a bad UTI, but she was in a lot of pain, and very ill, so I took her to the ER, they did a CT of her abdomin to rule out a ruptured appendix, well, they found a cyst on her overy that is over 10 centimeters. We have to see her OB/GYN tomorrow to sort this out, but she'll most likely need surgery. And if that isn't enough, I have to have an MRI of my head because I have been having headaches constantly and my memory is getting SCAREY bad, I mean I have picked up my knitting in the morning and had to get a book with diagrams to remind me how to knit bad, and I have knitted almost every day for almost a decade!

But as for the knitting, I did a cute pillowcase on my Bond USM (that my sweetheart got me) in a hot pink/neon varigated for our oldest son, AJ, he loves pink. I also made him a cute hat in that new Red Hat Strata self striping worsted yarn, I like that yarn it's really cute, and with 3 kids, very washable! I also finished sock 1 and got started on #2 from my new book, it's a cool cabled sock in worsted yarn, for hanging around the house. I'm doing them in a forest green Lion brand Wool-Ease it's warm and comfy, and once again, very washable.

I'm not very much in the mood to knit lately, I haven't touched my needles all day, I'm worried about the GYN tomorrow, and about the MRI too. I'm fighting depression pretty bad. I just don't want to do anything. Dyan has been so great though, she is trying so hard to make me feel better. And she is making me feel better, in a way, she is also making me feel really guilty because she is facing an awful possibility at the Dr. herself and she is spending all her energy paying attention to me and trying to cheer me up, I should be putting more effort into doing the same for her, I just don't have it in me today.

I am SOOOOOOOO stressed

I have another 3 months worth of stuff to do for Yule, and um, lets see, 17 or so days to do it in. You guys who get to wait to celebrate don't know how nice you have it, a whole extra 4 days of prep! That'd be cool! I am so off the "normal" clock that a few years ago I went shopping with a friend a couple of days after Yule, and looked at her and asked why everyone was so nuts, that when the poor girl had to break it to me that it was the day before Christmas Eve, so even though I was done, the rest of the world was still building up. Oops!

I think I have most of my shopping done. Almost........

I'm just nuts because this year we live with my mom and grandpa, my very christian grandpa, we live in the other half of their house, so we have SOME privacy, but not much! So, I have to figure out how to have our own celebration, and theirs, and it's driving me crazy. Before it was simple, we showed up for Christmas dinner and all was well, this year my grandfather is expecting the kids to open their gifts upstairs with him on Christmas morning, and we don't do it that way. We celebrate Yule, and have our dinner and gifts then. So this year I have to keep some gifts aside for the kids to open upstairs on Christmas, and I feel bad trying to pick what they get for Yule, and what for Christmas.

Insanity here I come!

Kiri shawl being blocked.

Holiday decorating

We went to JoAnn's last night and bought an Embellish Knit by Bond. We worked with the kids and as a family we made 3 i-cords with it, 1 red, 1 white, 1 green, then we braided them together as a garland for the tree. It turned out really cute, and we "accidentally" made it the PERFECT length, we went till we ran out of white, then made the other two match, it couldn't have worked out better if we had tried to measure!

I have to take some pictures and post them. I'll try to get that done this afternoon, I'm taking a break from re-arranging furniture right now.

Thing Sweaters

Here is Sean's Thing 2 Sweater. Instead of doing it the "traditional" way, Back, Front, Sleeves, Seams, ect. I did the body in the round, switched to flat at the arm hole shaping, and now am doing the sleeves top-down on DPs. His older brother AJ's (Thing 1) is on needles as well. This has been a collaboration between my mother, who is actually not much of a knitter, and I. I cast on, and do up to a few rows after the hem, then hand off to her, she does the however many rows of solid knitting to the armholes, then I take back over and finish, while she was working on Sean's, I got AJ's ready, then went on to continue working on Cheyenne's Yule Sweater. It's a cute pink thing that looking back, I should have had the fore site to do in the round as well, then it would have been solid brainless knitting, leaving my "brain time" for Nana's shawl.

Well, gotta run, time to take the munchkins to school.

Sarah

Kiri Shawl

I got about 2 1/2 inches done on my kiri shawl last night, I think one more pattern repeat and it'll be on to the edging. Yeah! It is for my darling D's Nana for christmas and I can't wait to see it done.
I counted my finished items that have made it into my book (the journal I keep of most of the things I have made), I'm at over 200 finished items for the year. Of course over 150 of those are hats and booties for the babies, and a lot more are sweaters and other preemie/baby things that are small and quick, but it adds up!

Cool new books

I got 2 new books from Amazon yesterday, the first, Holiday Knits, has some really cool needle felted ornaments I can't wait to try out. I've never done needle felting before, but these look like a great way to start. The other one, that I REALLY love, is Handknit Holidays, knitting year round for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Winter Solstice. I have already made a head kerchief from it, and cast on some beautiful cabled socks, and there are so many other things I just can't wait to do, I'm REALLY fighting my knitting attention deficit. I want to do so many things it's nuts. I have a sweater for Cheyenne that is almost half done, a sweater for Sean that I'm almost done with the front of, a pair of felted clogs for my mom that I have one sole and felting to do, the yarn for a pair for Cheyenne, a fuzzy purple scarf that is half done for mom, and some various preemie things that are in various stages of being done. I NEED to stop the insanity and FINISH some of this stuff, I'm just getting the OH-Sh*t-it's-almost-Yule-I-need-to-make-gifts craze that I always get around this time of year. Yes, I have other excuses for the rest of the year. Well, back to my needles.

I'm Back!

I haven't been on here in forever (like 6 months), and I have a bunch of things to fix, namely links. I've been keeping busy with the kids, and with my girl, but I haven't stopped knitting! I have done a ton! I've been working a lot on stuff for Little Bit of Heart, the charity group I have started in Little Bit's memory. D, the kids, and I have moved to Meadville. What a great change from Oil City, let me tell you. The kids are making me nuts right now, they have been out of school for 3 days of a 5 day break, and I want them to go back, NOW! I don't care if it's Saturday!!! They are bored, and that means they are being loud.

I'll try to get things updated as soon as I can, hopefully it won't take to long.

Later,
